UPDATE: March 2018
Each year GEW staff collect Christmas gifts to be used as prizes in the GEW New Year raffle. All funds raised by the raffle are donated to a favourite charity, with this year’s funds being sent to Macmillan Cancer Support.
To add to this, GEW held a staff sale of surplus items from the relocation of the company offices.
The prize draw and sale raised £700 for Macmillan, helping them to care for more people affected by cancer, and their families.
In their letter of thanks to GEW, the charity highlighted the many ways that companies and individuals can help in the fight against cancer, through their Team Up With Us initiative.
UPDATE: March 2017
AB Graphic’s managing director Mike Burton has successfully completed his solo Atlantic crossing in just 61 days, and raising more than £ 33,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Mike left Puerto Rico Marina, Gran Canaria, in the early morning on 8 January 2017 and completed his incredible journey 3000 miles later on 11 March at English Harbour, Antigua. He made the crossing in a 6m-long rowing boat, Storm Petrel, a self-righting design constructed of glass fibre and Kevlar.
In Mike’s words: “I cannot express my heartfelt thanks enough to one and all for all the kind words of support that certainly spurred me on in both the low moments of which there were few and the good times when the Atlantic and weather systems were helping me on my way. It has been a fantastic adventure and one which will live in my memories for the rest of my life.”
GEW donated £ 5,000.00 to Mike Burton’s chosen charity as an acknowledgement of this extraordinary achievement.
